LEEMAN x V x COLLA x EPILOGUE
Epilogue is an immersive installation based art show. It’s processes and concept have been inspired by America’s gun loving culture, corporate behemoths considered “to big to fail”, and a financial meltdown. It has pushed the three of us as artists away from what we have come to identify as our own individual styles along with the tools and mediums we have become used to incorporating into our artistic careers. We’ve traded the more traditional media of oil paints, canvas, and inks for reclaimed billboards, fire stencils, carbon soot emissions, and hand painted assault rifles, as a way of taking what we felt was a more relevant look at today through the scope of our art. This video itself is a movie style trailer come art video, that acts emblematically of our longing to step outside our artistic comfort zones. What we did with the video was a new feel for us in that we did not show the artwork nor do a traditional narrated artist interview but instead looked at the video as a piece of art itself which does less to answer a question and ideally more to inhibit curiosity in the viewer, leaving them with questions on our modern society and potentially life itself.
“Epilogue”, a show by D young V, Eddie Colla, and Hugh Leeman, opens Saturday, September 8th at 7 p.m. in downtown Los Angeles at Hold Up Art Gallery, 2 blocks south of the Geffen Contemporary MOCA, 358 E. 2nd St. know more, see here epiloguela.com.

DABS MYLA x LRG ARTIST DRIVEN
Australian duo Dabs & Myla are a true artistic representation that you “get back what you put in.” Having been partners both in art and romance for over 7 years, their inventive and daring approach is a byproduct of both their adopted home of Los Angeles as well as their unique collaborative ability that is unmatched in the competitive art world. Never afraid to give priority to individual works rather than an individual’s feelings, the result is always something that Dabs & Myla can both be proud of. It would be wise to heed their words: “the harder you work, the luckier you get.”

REVOK x GILGAMESH
Show opens July 28th, 2012 | 8-11 pm.Show runs July 28th – August 11th @ Known Gallery, Los Angeles, CA
With Gilgamesh, the artist has refined his technique of cutting up and reassembling found objects that once had a life of their own. All materials are scavenged from abandoned homes, churches, businesses and buildings in Detroit, Michigan, the city where REVOK has taken refuge. The artist extracts the beauty in urban decay, from dilapidated buildings and rubble of the past. An integral part of the process of acquiring his materials is exploring the neighborhoods, going into abandoned buildings, investigating forgotten places and sometimes in the course, encountering the people who once lived there. The artworks are then named after the street addresses from which he excavates his materials, leaving the stories embedded in the assemblage.

DABS MYLA x BREAK NIGHT LOVERS
Birdman writes… “This was a fun video for me as I got to collaborate with an old friend from music school, Ian Rees. He scored the music for this and if you pay attention closely you’ll notice Dabs and Myla each have their own musical themes that stand alone when they are on screen and when together the music harmonizes. Try watching with headphones for the full effect, enjoy!”

CACHE x KOFIE x BELMONT TUNNEL
Cache writes… “Here is a little video of a fun morning painting in LA. This was the first wall that i hit illegally with the chickens back in 2003-2004 , It was in bad shape. I had the honor of inviting Kofie to come thru and bless the wall with some amazing work . This is one of those rare occasions were I really allowed another artist to take control of the wall and I just step back and enjoy the outcome .. LA rocks!”
